Redemption For Chris Hulsizer Enroute to First Brewerton Speedway Modified Win
By Dave Medler
BREWERTON, NY (August 29, 2025) – Earlier this season Chris Hulsizer thought he had his first ever Brewerton Speedway Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modified win. Post race inspection took away the win.
Friday night Hulsizer raced in the top five all race long taking the lead on lap 22 in the 35-Lap feature. The race was far from over as he had to battle Darren Smith for the win, plus heavy lap traffic to put the name Chris Hulsizer in the record books as a Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modified feature winner.
Other Winners on Chris Nichols Snap-On-Tools & STOP-DWI- NY night. Tony Finch II (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman) Nate Powers (Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks) Zach Sobotka (Empire Super Sprints).
2025 Track Champions
Tim Sears Jr. – Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds.
Jason Parkhurst Jr. – DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman.
Joe Isabell – AmeriCU Credit Union STARS/IMCA Mod Lites
Chris Bonoffski – Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks.
Jim Witko and Tim Harris brought the 35-Lap Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified feature to the green with Witko grabbing the early advantage.
After putting pressure on Witko for several laps, Matt Caprara powered his way to the lead on lap 10, with Darren Smith moving to second.
Darren Smith and Chris Hulsizer would swap the lead back and forth on a track that had a fast top and bottom with Hulsizer making the winning pass on lap 22.
With heavy traffic ahead, Hulsizer and Smith not only raced for the lead, but had to navigate through lapped cars as the final laps started clicking off the scoring tower.
Chris Hulsizer got through the traffic and was first under the checkers by 0.848. over Darren Smith. Matt Caprara, Amy Holland from 12th, and Larry Wight from 17th completed the top five.
Tim Sears Jr. was crowned the 2025 Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modified Track Champion.
Dylan Piersall would lead the opening laps in the 25-Lap DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman when the caution came out on lap 7. On the restart Mike Button would be scored the new leader.
Tony Finch II would drive into the lead on lap 14 with a caution one lap later. Finch, Button, Brett Sears, Brian Harber, and Sam Groom.
When the race went back to green, Finch held the top spot with Brett Sears moving to second then setting his sights on Finch.
Over the final laps nobody challenged Tony Finch II, and he drove away from the field to victory lane. Brett Sears, Sam Groom, Cody Manitta, and Jason Parkhurst Jr. finished second through fifth.
With his fifth-place finish, Jason Parkhurst Jr. is the 2025 DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman Track Champion.
Dalton Rombough, Larry Wight, and Sam Reakes IV, all led laps in the 25-Lap Empire Super Sprints feature. It was local favorite Zach Sobotka that took the popular and big win. Larry Wight, Jordan Poirier, Danny Varin, and Sam Reakes IV completed the top five.
The full race story can be found on the Empire Super Sprints website.
Dylan Burdick led from the drop of the green until Nate Powers made the winning pass on lap 13 in the 15-Lap Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stock feature. Chris Bonoffski, Dylan Burdick, Walt VanEpps, and Justin Buskey. Finished second through fifth.
From all of us at Brewerton Speedway, we want to thank all the race teams, fans, division sponsors, event sponsors, plus marketing partners on a successful and fun 2025.
