Ron Davis III Becomes Eighth Different Brewerton Speedway Modified Winner in 2025

Mike Mullen has $10,000 Night with Brian "Crutch" Crutchley Memorial Mod Lite win.

By Dave Medler
BREWERTON, NY (July 11, 2025) – Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway Syracuse Haulers presented a night of exciting racing for fans and competitors.

In the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds Ron Davis III became the eighth different feature winner with no repeat winners this season to date.

Mike Mullen had the biggest win of his career in the AmeriCU Credit Union Stars/IMCA Mod Lites, Brian ‘Crutch’ Crutchley Memorial, winning $2150 with purses and awards, plus he won approx. $8000 in the Motor Raffle.

Other winners Friday were Nick Ventura winning his first DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman Feature at the speedway. Nate Powers won his fourth straight Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stock feature. The visiting Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour had Aaron Pugh getting the win.

Tim Harris and Tyler Trump brought the Modifieds to the green with Trump grabbing the lead in the 35-Lap Feature.

Todd Root using the top side of the track would drive into the lead on lap 4 and looked to put distance between himself and the rest of the field.

With ten laps showing on the scoring tower Root opened an almost two second lead as Trump, Darren Smith, Jason Parkhurst, and Chris Mackey battled for top five spots.

A yellow would slow the pace on lap 15. On the restart Root would still set a fast pace. Ron Davis III started 18th raced into the top five.

At the halfway point Root had a one second lead while behind him Trump, Smith, Davis, and Parkhurst were slugging it out.

With 10 laps to go Root was cruising out front with Davis moving into second and setting his sights on Root.

Root was still on the top side with Davis on the bottom started to really cut into Root’s lead setting up a dash to the checkers.

The entire complexion of the race changed on lap thirty-one. Davis slid Root, going into turn three with Root trying to go back under Davis and they made contact with Root spinning out in just a hard racing incident.

When the race went back to green Ron Davis III would lead the rest of the way becoming the eighth different winner this season with no repeat feature winners. Jason Parkhurst (DIRTcar 358), Chris Hulsizer, Tyler Trump, Tim Sears Jr. came from deep in the pack in a backup car completed the top five.

2025 Modified Feature Winners: Jimmy Phelps, Amy Holland, Nicholas Root, Matt Caprara, Tim Sears Jr, Chris Hile, Kyle Devendorf, Ron Davis III.

The 25-Lap Sportsman feature would see Dylan Piersall and Brian Harber switched the lead back and forth in a tight battle up front lap after lap.

Harber was strong on the top side holding a few cars length advantage before the yellow waved on lap sixteen. The restart would be Harber, Riley Rogala, Piersall, Nick Ventura who started 12th, and Tyler Corcoran who started 14th.

When the race went back to green, Rogala got a strong restart and drove into the lead.

With five laps remaining, Ventura took over second and Tony Finch II third as they set sights on Rogala.

Driving the bottom of the speedway, Nick Ventura reeled in Rogala and made the winning pass on lap 23 for his first ever Brewerton Speedway Sportsman win. Riley Rogala, Tony Finch II, Tyler Corcoran, and Cody Manitta finished second through fifth.

Zach Sobotka and Mike Mullen brought the twenty-four car Mod Lite field to the green with Sobotka grabbing the lead in the 33 Lap Brian ‘Crutch’ Crutchley Memorial.

The caution would wave on lap two. On the restart Sobotka would break ending his night.

On lap 5 Mullen held a slight lead over points leader Joe Isabell. Justin Williams, PO Trudeau, and Joe Garafolo were right in the fight.

Mullen and Isabell were in a two-car breakaway at the front on lap 10, as Williams, Trudeau, Garafolo still raced for top five positions.

The halfway point still had Mullen and Isbell battling for the lead with the back of the field just ahead.

Lap 25 had Mullen and Isabell both running the bottom when Isabel switched to the top seeing the final laps clicking off with traffic just ahead.

Mike Mullen easily got through traffic and drove away for the biggest win of his career. Joe Isabell, Justin Williams PO Trudeau, and Joe Garafolo finished second through fifth.

The 15-Lap Four Cylinder Super Stock feature saw Alexandra Parker, Steven Burdick, Justin Guyle all lead laps. The race came down to Jack Taskey who took the lead on lap 11 and Nate Powers who started at the back of the field.

A caution on lap 14 set up a green, white, checkers finish. On the restart Powers was able to pass Taskey on the final lap for a narrow win. Jack Taskey, Justin Guyle, Walt VanEpps, and Zak Petrie completed the top five.

The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour entertained the fans with Aaron Pugh going to victory lane. Brad Litzenbeger, Joe August, Ian Gordon, and Bob Bennett finished second through fifth.

Brewerton Speedway will be off Friday, July 18 for summer break.

The Racing action returns on Friday, July 25 when Bayberry Automotive and Jammer's Sports Bar & Restaurant present Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, AmeriCU Credit Union IMCA/STARS Mod Lites and Mirabito DIRTcar 4-Cylinders plus Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stock Open.
