Jimmy Phelps Collects Brewerton Speedway Opening Night Victory

BREWERTON, NY (May 16, 2025) – After a couple frustrating weeks with mother nature the Brewerton Speedway was finally able to get in opening night in the record books Friday to the happiness of the fans and race teams.

Thirty-two Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds signed into the pits with Baldwinsville, NY’s Jimmy Phelps taking the popular win in the caution free 35-Lap feature.

Other winners on Ferris Mowers night were, Tyler Corcoran (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman), Joe Isabell (AmeriCU Credit Union Mod Lites) Chris Bonoffski (Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks), Tyler Catalano (Wingless 600 Microsprints).

Jimmy Phelps and Alan Fink brought 26 car feature to the green with Phelps grabbing the early lead.

With five laps complete Phelps held a six-car advantage with Willy Decker, Fink, Alex Yankowski, and Tim Sears Jr. racing for second through fifth.

On lap-ten Phelps still showed the way out front over Decker, Yankowski, Fink, and Matt Sheppard.

At the halfway point and no yellows to slow the field Phelps still led as Decker, Yankowski, Fink, and Sheppard still showed in the top-five.

Yankowski blasted into second on lap twenty two and set his sights on Phelps.

With ten laps to Phelps was still leading with tight battles between Yankowski, Fink, Larry Wight, and Sheppard for second through fifth.

Wight was finding speed on the top-side of the speedway moving into second on lap twenty-seven.

Over the final laps nobody was getting by Jimmy Phelps as he was the first under the checkers. Alan Fink in a small block, Larry Wight, Alex Yankowski, and Matt Sheppard finished second through fifth.

Tyler Corcoran and Tony Finch II would bring the 25-Lap DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature to the green with Corcoran taking the early lead.

With five-laps showing on the scoring tower that would see Corcoran, Finch a close second as Cody Manitta, Joe Trichilo, and Austin Germinio showed in the top-five.

Corcoran and Finch would still show the way with ten laps to with Cody Manitta, Trichilo, and Germinio raced for top-five finishes.

A late caution setup two-lap dash to the checkers. There was no stopping Tyler Corcoran as he picked up the victory. Tony Finch II, Cody Manitta, Joe Trichilo, and Brett Sears finished second through fifth. Trichilo was held for further tech.

Joe Isabell would take the early lead in the 20-Lap AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lite feature.

Isabell and Rick Demo would swap the lead back and forth in the early going while racing hard in lapped traffic.

Isabell was pulling away until a yellow on lap fourteen giving the field one last shot at the leader.

Over the final laps Joe Isabell would outrun Justin Williams to the checkers. Kyle Demo, Zack Babcock, and Mike Mullen finished third through fifth.

Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks track champion Chris Bonoffski led every lap of the 15-Lap feature over Anthony VanEpps, Justin Guyle, Maggie Guyle, and Jacob Kimball.

The Wingless 600 Micro Sprints saw Tyler Catalano picking up the feature win. Brad Mitchell, Jake Sivers, Zach Bobbett, and William Fisher finished second through fifth.

Kickoff your Memorial Day weekend when the high speed, methanol breathing Empire Super Sprints invade the ‘D-Shaped Dirt Demon’ for the Don Gillette Memorial, plus the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, and AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lites presented by A-Verdi Storage Containers. The Four Cylinders have the week off.
