Inside Line Promotions – VERNON, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2015) – Joe Trenca scored a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend during a Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints tripleheader.

The Mucci Motorsports driver kicked the weekend off on Friday by advancing from fifth to third place during a heat race at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, N.Y.

“We drew a decent pill and we finished third, which put us in the redraw,” he said. “We pulled the six to start the feature on the outside of the third row. We were up to fourth at one point, but on a restart around Lap 15 I got off the end of the track on the backstretch and fell back to about 11th. I yanked the wing back and started running the top after that.”

Trenca rebounded to rally for an eighth-place result.

He had similar success the following night during his debut at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y. Trenca picked up a spot to finish second in a heat race, which started him on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“It was eventful,” he said. “We stayed steady for a few laps. From about eighth to 12th we were in a big group. On a restart I didn’t realize the wing was as far back as it was. We went to the top and the car pushed like crazy. We fell back to about 16th.”

Trenca overcame the miscue as he powered back into the top 10 before finishing sixth.

“We had the fastest car throughout the feature,” he said. “If I didn’t make the mistake we probably would have been on the podium. It was a learning moment.”

Unfortunately, rear end issues hampered the team throughout Sunday’s event at Utica-Rome Speedway. Trenca ended seventh in a heat race and was unable to pick up a transfer in the B Main.

He will return to the track this Saturday for the Cole Cup with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.

“Last weekend was a good weekend,” he said. “We ran a new shock package and we’re very happy with them. We learned a lot so we’ll use that and move on to this weekend’s big race.”
