Chris Hulsizer Speeds His Way to First Career Brewerton Speedway Modified Win

By Dave Medler

BREWERTON, NY (June 6, 2025) – There is nothing more exciting in racing than seeing a racer have a hard fought first career feature victory. That is what Chris Hulsizer did in the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds Friday night at Brewerton Speedway.

In the 35-Lap feature Hulsizer would take the lead on lap twenty and from there would hold off all challengers for the popular win.

Other winners on Haun Welding & Specialty Gases night were, Jason Parkurst Jr. (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman) Joe Isabell (AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lites) Chris Bonoffski (Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks) Tyler Catalano (600 Wingless Microsprints).

Jeff Taylor and Matt Caprara would bring the 35-Lap Modified feature to the green with Taylor grabbing the early lead.

With ten laps showing on the scoring tower the top five saw Taylor, Chris Hile, Matt Caprara, Kyle Devendorf, and Jim Witko in a tight battle in the top five.

On lap fourteen Hile would blast into the lead and would lead until lap twenty when Hile would clip an infield tire in turn one ending his night on a restart.

When the race went back to green rookie Nick Root moved into second and set his sights on leader Chris Hulsizer.

With ten laps remaining Hulsizer held a six-car length advantage over Root while Ronnie Davis III, Tyler Trump, Tim Sears Jr, and Darren Smith from the LCQ were in a tight fight for third through sixth.

A quick yellow would set up a green, white, Checker, finish. There was no stopping Chris Hulsizer as he was first under the checkers for his first ever Brewerton Modified win. Nick Root, Tim Sears Jr. Ronnie Davis III, and Darren Smith finished second through fifth.

Brian Harber would lead the opening three laps of the 25-Lap DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature when Austin Germinio would take the lead.

On lap eleven Brett Sears moved into second and then set his sights on Germinio.

At the halfway point Germino, Sears, Harber, Nick Ventura, and Jason Parkhurst battled in the top five before a caution would tighten the field up.

Germinio and Sears would swap the lead back and forth with Parkhurst moving in on the top two.

A late caution and restart would see Jason Parkhurst Jr. find the speed he needed on the topside as he would drive into the lead and go on to his second straight feature win. Brett Sears, Austin Germinio, Nick Ventura, and Tony Finch II would complete the top five.

The 20-Lap AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lites saw Roger Olschewske lead the early laps until Joe Isabell would drive into the top-spot on lap six.

Once out front nobody challenged Isabell winning his third straight feature. Justin Williams, Doug Williams, Jacob Dupra, and Joe Garafolo finished second through fifth.

Nate Powers led the opening four laps of the 15-Lap Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks feature when defending track champion and current point leader Chris Bonoffski took over the lead.

Once out front Bonoffski drove away remaining undefeated this season in feature races. Nate Powers, Jack Taskey, Anthony VanEpps, and Tim Koch completed the top five.

The 600 Wingless Microsprints made their second appearance at the ‘D-Shaped Dirt Demon’.

In the 20-Lap feature Tyler Catalano took the win. Brandon Goetz, Wayne Stella, Jake Stivers, and Billy Applebee finished second through fifth.

Friday, June 13 Schneider Packaging and Microgame Play & Trade will present a fan favorite Family Autograph Night. During intermission fans will be able to go trackside to get up close to all the cars plus meet their favorite drivers for pictures, autographs, hero cards, and race team giveaways.

Racing on the ‘D-Shape Dirt Demon’ will feature the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, AmeriCU Credit Union Mod Lites, Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks.
