This class was designed as an entrance level class to encourage people to start racing in a safe and affordable manner. The 4 Cylinder class is based on mass produced, four passenger sub compact cars with a maximum wheelbase of 101.0” with the exception of a Dodge of Plymouth Neon with a production wheelbase of 102" (Amended 6/1/07). The cars are essentially stock with modification limited to two basic areas – engines and tires/wheels/suspension…all other components must be O.E.M. or direct replacement except as specifically stated herein. These components may be reinforced or heavy duty, BUT MAY NOT BE OTHERWISE MODIFIED.Our aim is to create a sassy race car which is safe, economical, and extremely competitive in addition to fostering an attitude of sportsmanship and goodwill.
1. WEIGHT
1 lb/cc with driver at end of race. Dual overhead cam engines 1.2 lb/cc at end of race (Amended 8/7/07). No fuel may be added to achieve weight, minimum weight 1800 pounds. Weight must be Lead Weight or Steel Plates mounted to frame by Weight Ballast Clamps. No welding weight to frame allowed. No Dumb Bells, etc. to be used. All weights being used must be painted white and have car number on it. No tolerance at all on this rule. If it is not up to specifications, car will not be allowed to race until it complies.2. ENGINE
Four cylinder, four cycle, single cam, two valves per cylinder (dual cam 16 valve engines allowed), reciprocating and normally aspirated only. Displacement no greater than 2560 ccm. Block and cylinder head must be stock appearing and available from factory on chassis used, or similar body style. No high performance engines (such as Z-Tech) allowed.A. CARBURETOR
Any single or 2 barrel carburetor including Holley #4412 OEM. Must run a maximum spacer adapter of 1” including gaskets. NO MODIFICATION OF ANY KIND will be allowed to these carburetors except the removal of the choke plate and shaft. BOX STOCK ONLY! The jets may be changed as needed. Conventional round type air cleaners only. NO air induction plastic carburetor inserts or other devices to direct air into the intake. ALL CARBURETORS MUST REMAIN UNDER THE HOOD. Throttle area not to exceed 43mm (1 11/16”). Fuel injection allowed stock on fuel injected engines.B. INTAKE MANIFOLD
NO altering of manifolds: ONLY exception is where it accepts the carburetor or spacer plate. Fuel injected manifolds on fuel injected systems, i.e. carburetor manifolds used on carburetor systems only.C. IGNITION
Any battery operated ignition. Battery MUST be located in either the engine compartment in a safe manner or in drivers compartment. If located in driver’s area, it MUST be totally covered. Marine style holders recommended.D. COOLING SYSTEM
Any radiator, fan, or shrouding may be used. Must be mounted within limits of stock location.E. LUBRICATION SYSTEM
May be modified. NO dry sump systems may be used. Oil coolers must be mounted in engine compartment.F. EXHAUST SYSTEM
Any exhaust system may be used. All exhaust systems must exit outside body shell.G. MUFFLERS MANDATORY! Passenger style, California Turbo are to be used. Sound level not to exceed 90db at 50 feet. ANY CAR OVER THIS LEVEL WILL BE BLACK FLAGGED IMMEDIATELY.
3. SUSPENSION, WHEELS, AND TIRES
A. SUSPENSION
Rear end substitution allowed. Volkswagen Rabbit rear ends must be reinforced or altered for strength. All suspension pivot points must retain stock location and stock track width. Any stabilizer bar may be added or removed in front and/or rear. Bushings may be changed. Struts and shocks MAY NOT be specialty or competition. Struts, shocks, and springs must be O.E. replacement. Strut suspension reinforced top and bottom. Springs may be of various tensions. A-Frames may be strengthened. NO FLOATERS. ALL DRIVE LINE AND SUSPENSION PARTS, ALSO ENGINE, MUST BE THE SAME AS FLOOR PAN.A. WHEELS AND TIRES
Only aftermarket steel racing wheels with 7” maximum width, single or double wall, with 3”-4” maximum backspacing (offset) allowed. Back of rim making contact with hub MUST be flat surface (no concave). No spacers or spacing allowed between hub and wheel. Racing lug nuts and racing wheel studs MANDATORY. Any tire with 8” TREAD WIDTH MAXIMUM. Racing recaps may be used. Tires will be measured with go / no go device. McCreary Roadstar DOT tires acceptable. Grooving of tires is permitted. NO wheel plugs/covers/inserts.4. CHASSIS AND BODY
A. BODY
Overall appearance must be street stock to the eye. NO chopping, channeling, or sectioning. Full rocker panels must be used. Wheel well openings may be reasonably radiused for tire clearance. Bodies must be complete. Body MAY NOT be lowered over floor pan. BODY MUST BE OF SAME MANUFACTURE AS ORIGINAL FLOOR PAN. WHEEL BASE OF NEW BODY MUST BE SAME AS ORIGINAL BODY WITHIN 2 INCHES. 2” MAXIMUM HEIGHT hood scoop allowed, must be completely enclosed and neat in appearance-NO FORCED AIR INDUCTION. Hood safety chain and/or approved hood pins must be used. Windshield area and grill cavity must be wire screened, NO CHICKEN WIRE. The windshield must also have one safety bar and two safety straps, one in center and one 5” from center on each side. Headlight and tail light openings must be sealed to drivers compartment. ALL glass, light, side body moldings and door latches must be removed. Bumpers MUST be stock appearing, with ends capped and/or brought in flush with paint schemes in good taste. Single side rub rails permitted, must NOT extend more than 1” from body. Drivers side rub rail must be level, passenger side may be tipped town slightly from front to rear to prevent overlap on contact. ALL rub rails must be rolled in towards body on end. Deck lids or rear hatches must remain stock. Front inner fenders optional. LEGIBLE NUMBERS MUST APPEAR AT LEAST 12” HIGH in contrasting color and MUST BE on driver and passenger door. Engine displacement must be painted on hood in 2” letters on driver’s side.

NO tube frames. Reinforcement of stock frame is permitted. Front and rear sub-frames must be tied together on uni-body cars.C. FLOOR PAN
Complete floor pan MUST be used. Holes through floor pan must be sealed. Body and floor pan must remain essentially stock.D. TRANSMISSION
Must be complete transmission. Gearing may be changed. Five speeds may be used. Automatic or standard O.E. style transmission.E. INTERIOR
Must be ENTIRELY gutted. Remove or pad all sharp edges. ALL pedals must remain in stock location. A FULL 6 POINT roll cage with headrest constructed of mild steel tubing is MANDATORY. Major tubes MUST be 1 ½ O.D. X .090 wall thickness MINIMUM. The major tubes are all tubes in the six-point cage and the driver’s door bars. Driver and passenger openings MUST have three side bars with uprights. Front firewall must be stock with holes plugged. A 20 gauge metal firewall must be installed behind the driver, extend to the rear window opening, and completely enclose the rear deck. It MUST be securely bolted, riveted, or welded in place. No cockpit style tinwork.F. GROUND CLEARANCE
MINIMUM ground clearance is 4” measured to the lowest part of the chassis.G. STEERING COLUMN
Steering column may not be lengthened, shortened, or relocated. Collapsible steering column is highly recommended.5. SAFETY AND GENERAL RULES
ALL CARS MUST HAVE
1. Four wheel hydraulic brakes in good working order. May use proportioning valves.
2. Two throttle return springs.
3. Adequately secured and enclosed battery.
4. ONLY fuel rated hose line for fuel lines.
5. Fuel line in driver’s compartment MUST be steel line covered with rubber hose securely fastened with shutoff valve.
6. On-board fire extinguisher MINIMUM 2 ½ lbs. With gauge rated ABC.
7. Fuel cells relocated within body shell, between main frame rails and securely mounted with steel firewall.
8. Approved fuel cells MANDATORY. Fuel cell MUST be fully encased in a steel or aluminum container with a minimum thickness of 20 gauge (NO FLASHING).
9. No glass float in a fuel system.
10. No pressure tanks of fuel system.
11. Fuel and ignition shut off within easy reach of driver and track crew. Cars with electric fuel pumps must have master kill switch, painted and labeled, in area of car easily accessible from the outside.
12. Drive shafts MUST BE PAINTED WHITE.
13. A drive shaft loop must be installed within 6”-12” of the front universal joint to prevent drive shaft dropping in case of breakage.
14. PUMP GAS ONLY….NO ALCOHOL OR ADDITIVES.
15. ONE WAY RADIOS ARE MANDATORY. Frequency is 454.000.6. DRIVER SAFETY
A. HELMETS
Snell 90 or better, Snell 95 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. NO DOT or open face helmets allowed.B. FIRESUITS
MUST be Nomex or PBI. MUST NOT BE TORN. Shoes MUST be leather or Nomex. NO CANVAS SHOES. GLOVES OR FIREPROOF UNDERWEAR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.C. WINDOW NET
MANDATORY-must have quick release system easily accessible from outside of car.D. BELTS/HARNESS
MANDATORY 5 point 3” wide safety belt and shoulder harness fastened to roll cage.E. NECK COLLAR
MANDATORY. Must be used anytime the car is on the track (including hot laps).F. SEAT
Racing seat fastened to frame and/or cage in SIX spots, with a MINIMUM of SIX 3/8” bolts, four (4) on the bottom and two (2) on the seat back. NO PASSENGER CAR SEATS. Right side of seat must NOT extend past center line of car. Aluminum one piece high-back seat MANDATORY.7. GENERAL PROCEDURES AND CONDUCT GUIDELINES
1. ANY and ALL the decisions made by the Technical Inspector are FINAL. ANY car that departs from reality of the intention of the decision will be DISQUALIFIED. SPEEDWAY MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY AND ALL ENTRIES.
2. The management reserves the right to change any rule or rules if they feel it is necessary and refuses any protest if they feel it is unnecessary and being used for harassment purposes. The officials only in their professional discretion shall determine the interpretation and invoking of the rules published herein.
3. It is YOUR responsibility to clarify ANY rules not specified herein with the Technical Inspector prior to competition. ANY car found illegal will be subject to LOSS OF POINTS and the driver may lose ALL POINTS EARNED at the track they are found to be illegal at.
4. DRIVERS ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ALL CREW MEMBERS.
5. PROTESTS-Visible protests are of no cost to the driver. NO tools or measuring devices may be used in a visible protest. Visible protests MUST be made before the event is run. Fuel may be protested, in which case fuel will be drained from the protested car and becomes property of the track.
6. DRIVER PROTEST-Any driver or owner may, as a matter of right, protest any violation of the rules. This protest will cost $100; payable at the time the protest is submitted.
7. ENGINE CLAIMER-The track reserves the right to claim any engine for $400.
