Decker, Root, Meyers And Bechler Grab Brewerton Speedway Victories

BREWERTON, NY – July 21,2017 – Fresh off his Eldora Speedway Super DIRTcar Series win on Tuesday, Billy Decker kept that momentum going as he grabbed the win Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway in the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds.
Decker started the 35-lap feature in 10th and methodically moved his way to the front, taking the lead on lap 29 after a torrid battle inside the top-five.  Once out-front Decker cruised to his third win of the season and 63 overall at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon.
Other winners on Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux night were, Todd Root (Sportsman) Brian Meyers (Mod Lite) Ray Bechler (4-Cylinders).
Rich Scagliotta jumped out to the early lead in the 35 lap Modified feature building up a comfortable lead at lap 10 running the extreme bottom of the speedway. Rob Bellinger ran alone in second as Mike Mahaney, Jeremy Smith and Mike Bowman were in a close battle for third through fifth.
With 15 laps complete, Scagliotta was running his best race of the season opening a 2 second lead on Bellinger while the battle behind the top two was tight between Bowman, Mahaney and Billy Decker who was now making his presence felt.
A yellow on lap 22 would erase Scagliotta’s big lead he had built up. After the race went back to green it would take Bellinger just two circuits around the top of the speedway to take the lead.
Decker was able to grab second on lap 26 and then set his sights on Bellinger running him down and taking the lead on lap 29. Once out front Decker went on to his third feature win at the speedway this season. Rob Bellinger, Mike Bowman, Rich Scagliotta, and Max McLaughlin finished second through fifth.
In the 25 lap SUNY Canton Sportsman feature Todd Root would take the lead on a lap 2 restart and then would bolt out to a big lead.
At the 10-lap mark Root opened a 3.2 second lead while behind him Nick Krause, Brent Joy, Ron Davis III, Jackson Gill and Zach Sobotka were slugging it out in a close race for second through sixth.
Wirth 10-laps to go Root was still flexing his muscle showing a 4.3 second lead as Davis ran alone in second looking for a way to cut into Root’s advantage. Gill, Krause and Joy still raced in the top-five.
Over the remaining laps and no yellows to slow Root down, he cruised to an easy win. Ron Davis III, Jackson Gill, Brent Joy and Nick Krause finished second through fifth.
In the 20 lap Firehouse Subs Mod Lite feature there were points during the race you could have thrown a large blanket over the top eight cars running inches apart and never touching. With the feature in doubt until the finish, it was Brian Meyers, who had come close so many times in the past, picking up his first ever Brewerton Speedway win. Justin Williams, Mike Mullen, Zack Babcock and Joe Garafolo chased Meyers across the line.
In the 15 lap JB Logging & Firewood 4-Cylinder feature Chris Bonoffski took the lead on the opening lap from his sixth starting position and looked to run away and hide. On lap 11 Ray Bechler was able to snag the top spot. Bechler and Bonoffski would swap the lead back and forth with Bechler taking the lead for good on lap 14. Chris Bonoffski would hold on to second followed by Jacobe Palmiter, Jessica Herbert and Quinn Wallis.
Kayden McNitt out of Lacona, NY won the youth Demo Derby while Mike Snyder out of Copenhagen, NY won the adult Demo Derby.
Coming this Friday, July 28 Ferris Mowers presents a night of fast, family affordable dirt track racing featuring the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, Firehouse Subs Mod Lites and JB Logging & Firewood 4-Cylinders.
