358-MODIFIEDS TO CONTINUE AS LARGE PART OF WEEKLY BREWERTON SPEEDWAY & FULTON SPEEDWAY PROGRAM

FULTON, NY – The 358-Modifed division has a long and storied history at Brewerton Speedway and Fulton Speedway and that tradition will continue weekly during the 2008 race season under the looser 2004 DIRT Motorsports rules. Each and every race night, the 358-Modifieds will join the Big Block Modifieds racing together as one whole Modified division competing for DIRTcar Modified points.

All 358-Modifieds at both speedways will be scored as a Big Block Modified and collect only Big Block points. However, the 358-Modifieds will not have to run a rev box, only need to weigh 2,400 pounds, and must run the specified Hooiser track tire. In addition, any carburetor will be legal for the 2008 race season on a 358-Modified. All drivers wishing to race at both Brewerton and Fulton as an option in addition to the home tracks they already run are always welcome.

This interesting rules combination will prove to boost the weekly Modified fields at both tracks as it did during the 2007 race season. Without a doubt, a 358-Modified can easily be parked in victory lane on race night as Pat Ward did at Fulton Speedway late last summer. Ward started dead last with his Utica-Rome Speedway 358-Modified and stormed to the race lead on the final lap to take the huge 35-lap win over Tim Sears and Jimmy Phelps.

It doesn’t matter who has what under the hood or who’s driving at Brewerton and Fulton Speedways, anyone can win on any given night in the highly competitive Modified class. At Brewerton Speedway in 2007, there were eight different winners in the Modified division and four of those were first time winners. Fulton Speedway had eight different winners and three first-timers.

The 358-Modifieds competing on the weekly Brewerton and Fulton Speedway circuit will have their feature race of the year as always at Brewerton Speedway during Super DIRT Week. On Thursday October 9, the 358-Modifieds will battle in the 75-lap Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship which is always the best race of all during Super DIRT Week. In addition, the granddaddy Modified race of them all, the Vic 200, will be held for its 23rd consecutive year at Fulton Speedway on Saturday October 4.

The 2008 tentative race schedules will be released for both speedways in the near future. For more information, contact the speedway wintertime office at (315) 668-2526 or visit www.brewertonspeedway.com or www.fultonspeedway.com.
