Decker, Casewell, Zehr, Hutchinson and Shumway win on opening night at Brewerton

Brewerton, NY – Billy Decker wasted no time taking the top spot away from outside pole setter Steve Hulsizer, four laps is all it took to be exact.

As Decker ran away up front the battle was on for second thru fifth until Steve Hulsizer got into the rear end of Willy Decker sending the 1x around and to the rear of the field. Hulsizer would be penalized, he too would be sent to the rear. With Decker and Hulsizer to the rear, Alan Johnson sat second, looking for a shot at the top spot.

As the laps clicked away the battle for the top two spots was settle, but the fight was on for third thru fifth as Matt Sheppard got around Kevin Bates for the third spot Chuck Bower got around Ryan Phelps for the fifth spot.

With two to go as the leaders cleared slower traffic, it appeared that Johnson might have one bullet left in the chamber, as Decker drifted way high off turn four to take the white, but AJ just didn't have enough left in the right rear, so Decker grabs his first of the season at the, "D Shaped Dirt Demon."

In the 20 lap IMCA feature event Dale Caswell started on the pole and led every lap to grab his first feature win of 2008. Pete Anderson brought out a late caution with one to go, to set up a green white, checkered finish between Caswell, Rob Keller and Keron Cook. As the green waved, Cook got into Keller on the restart leaving Caswell to open up a huge advantage and coast to victory.

Lowell Zehr was able to take over the point in the ESDCA Mod Lite feature event and hold on for the win, over teammate Dave Trytek. Zehr victory wasn't a easy one, as he had to avoid many spins and small collisions all over the racing surface, but from victory lane, Zehr said, "any win is never an easy one."

The 4 Cylinder Super Stocks took on the clay and pole setter and defending track champion, Claude Hutchinson led all 15 laps to grab his first win of the season. Chuck Powalczyk gave Hutchinson a run for his money as with two laps to go, Powalczyk pulled along side on the high side, but Hutchinson powered off turn two to keep the top spot. Powalczyk settled in for second, while Glen Erwin took the spot.

In the 4 Cylinder Enduro it was a 15 lap shootout between father and son, but with two go Jon Shumway powered down the back stretch to take the top spot and hold on to grab the victory. Father and son Josh Herbert, Jerry Herbert rounded out the top three money spots.
