BELDEN AND HAWKER WIN OPEN EVENTS AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY

 

BREWERTON, NY...Bret Belden and Ron Hawker were feature race winners in their respective Open events last Tuesday at Brewerton Speedway. Belden claimed $500 for his victory in the Pro Stock Open event, while Hawker earned $400 for his triumph in the Pure Stock Open. Dale Caswell, Dan Williams, Joey Delacruz and Morris Matthews were also feature winners on the night.
 

     Bret Belden earned the 20-lap Pro Stock Open feature win last Tuesday night over Bob Buono, Ron Marsden, Billy Clark and Jason Parkhurst. Belden led the entire 20-lap distance. In the late going he was able to hold off Buono, who worked up from the tenth starting position.
 

     Ron Hawker claimed the win in the 20-lap Pure Stock Open. Kurt Decker, Rusty Marsden, Brandon Warner and Dick Stark completed the top five feature finishers in the 26-car starting field. Hawker made the move for the victory past Mannise on lap-11. Steve Crouse led the first two circuits. Mannise led the field from laps three through ten.
 

     Dale Caswell earned his third 20-lap IMCA Modified feature race win last Tuesday night. Sean Lias, Kevan Cook, Johnny Hill and Brian Evenden finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Caswell made the winning move past Hill on lap eight. Steve Coit and Rob Keller were also feature race leaders early in the event.
 

     Dan Williams won his fourth ESDCA Mod Lite feature race last Tuesday night. Lowell Zehr, Andrew Schartner, Kevin Donhauser and Rocco Leone completed the top five feature finishers. Darren Austin led the first four laps of the main event. Mike Isabell took the top spot away from Austin on lap five. Williams made the winning move past Isabell on lap-10.
 

     Joey Delacruz claimed his eighth feature race win of the season in the Four Cylinder Super Stock division last Tuesday night. Matt Wetterer, Chuck Powelczyk, Rich Murtaugh and Claude Hutchings Jr. finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Delacruz passed Murtaugh for the lead on lap three. Wetterer challenged Delacruz in the late going, but had to settle for second.
 

     Morris Matthews won his first Four Cylinder Enduro feature race last Tuesday night. Josh Herbert, Chad Guthrie, Matt Kitts and Jerry Herbert rounded out the top five feature finishers.
 

     This Friday, August 11 at Brewerton Speedway is the final Family Autograph Night of the season. In race competition will be the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, Four Cylinder Super Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers.      Wednesday, August 30 is the long awaited return of the Advance Auto DIRT Big Block Modified Super DIRT Series to the D-shaped DIRT Demon. The winner of the 100-lap affair will pocket $6,000. An IMCA Modified Empire State Series event will also be contested. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m.
