ALAN
JOHNSON WINS FERNANDEZ AUTO MALL HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR FOR FIRST VICTORY
OF THE SEASON
BREWERTON, NY...Alan Johnson claimed the win
in the 45-lap DIRT Big Block Modified Fernandez Auto Mall Holiday
Spectacular last Friday night at Brewerton Speedway. As hard as it seems
to believe, the victory was the first of the season for the multi-time
Track Champion at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. The win for the Jeff
Rudalavage owned, Native Poker sponsored car was worth $2,300.
Matt Fink raced out to the early lead at the start of the Fernandez
Auto Mall Holiday Spectacular from the pole starting position. The DIRT
Big Block Modified rookie driver led the opening four circuits. Danny
Johnson took the top spot from Fink on lap five. Johnson only led one
circuit when his car owner and team-mate Jeff Isabell came away with the
top spot.
Jeff Isabell led the quality field
through lap-30. It was on lap-31 when Alan Johnson took the top spot
away from Isabell. Johnson worked up patiently from the tenth starting
position with the help of only two caution periods, the last that came
on lap-14. Jeff Isabell turned in his best effort of the season with a
strong second place finish. Stewart Friesen came home in third with Tim
Fuller and Matt Sheppard completing the top five feature finishers.
Dale Caswell claimed his second 20-lap
IMCA Modified feature race win of the 2006 season last Friday night. Rob
Keller, Johnny Hill, Pat Pontello and Bill Anderson Sr. followed Caswell
across the finish line. Dave Talbot led the first three circuits before
Rob Keller took command of the field. Caswell made the winning move past
Keller on lap eight.
Doug Williams won his fifth 20-lap
ESDCA Mod Lite feature race last Friday night. Dan Williams, Tim
Devendorf, Kevin Donhauser and Darren Austin finished in positions
second through fifth respectively. Doug Williams made the winning move
past brother Dan on lap-18. Kevin Donhauser led the first 13-laps of the
main event before Dan Williams slipped by on lap-14.
Joey Delacruz won his fourth 15-lap
Four Cylinder Super Stock feature race last Friday night. Chuck
Powelczyk, Rich Rainville, Aron Backus and Jeff Herbert crossed the
finish line in positions second through fifth. Rich Murtaugh led the
first nine laps of the main event. Delacruz took the top spot away from
Murtaugh on lap-10 and never gave it back.
Chad Guthrie earned the victory in the
Four Cylinder Enduro feature race. Jerry Curcie Jr., Ron Hunt, Jack
Simons and Josh Herbert completed the top five feature finishers.
