FULLER COMES FROM BACK OF THE PACK TO WIN NATIONWIDE INSURANCE / COLOSSE CHEESE DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE

BREWERTON, NY...Tim Fuller won his third 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature race of the season the hard way last Friday night at Brewerton Speedway. Fuller was involved in a lap five tangle and was forced to restart at the rear of the field. Fuller then made a tremendous charge to take the lead away from Steve Hulsizer with just two laps remaining for the well earned victory in the Nationwide Insurance / Colosse Cheese main event.

Hulsizer jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Nationwide Insurance / Colosse Cheese DIRT Big Block Modified feature race from the pole starting position. Hulszier led the opening five circuits before Jim Witko took the top spot away on lap six. Hulsizer came charging right back, however, to lead the 25-car starting field on lap eight.

It appeared that Hulsizer would win his first DIRT Big Block Modified feature at the D-shaped DIRT Demon, but several drivers had a different plan. Stewart Friesen challenged Hulsizer on several occasions, with Jimmy Phelps also involved in the mix. The faithful Brewerton fans were treated to a tremendous main event, which at one time found drivers five wide coming out of the second turn area.

Fuller started to make the bottom side of the track work and that was the key to victory for the Native Poker sponsored team. Fuller passed Hulsizer on lap-33 and then held on for the victory. Hulsizer had to settle for second with Friesen recording his best ever Brewerton finish with a solid third. Rookie Kevin Bates finished a strong fourth with Jimmy Phelps completing the top five.

Billy Decker, Matt Sheppard, Pat Ward, Ryan Phelps and Tim McCreadie finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively. Multi-time Brewerton Speedway Track Champion Alan Johnson finished in the 11th position. A total of 22 of the 25 starters completed the entire 35-lap distance in the lead lap. The feature event was surely a showcase of the most talented field in DIRT Motorsports.

Johnny Hill won his first 20-lap IMCA Modified feature race of the season last Friday night. Dale Caswell, Mike Smith, Tim Hearne and Kevan Cook followed the former Brewerton IMCA Modified Track Champion across the finish line. Hill made the winning move past Caswell on lap-16. Pete Anderson and Rob Keller were also feature race leaders.

Doug Williams won his fourth 20-lap ESDCA Mod Lite feature race last Friday night. Darren Austin, John Byrnes, Andrew Schartner and Tim Devendorf finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Williams made the winning move past Austin on lap-18. Kevin Donhauser led in the early going over the 30-car starting field.

Rich Murtaugh crossed the finish line first at the conclusion of the Four Cylinder Super Stock main event, but was later disqualified for rough riding. Chuck Powelczyk was credited with his fourth feature win of the 2006 season. Todd Williamson, Russell Erwin, Lorrie Herbert and Glen Erwin finished in positions second through fifth respectively.

This Friday at Brewerton Speedway is the Holiday Spectacular. The DIRT Big Block Modifieds will battle in a 45-lap special with the IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, Four Cylinder Super Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in competition. A huge fireworks display will also be presented.
