DECKER
FINALLY BREAKS INTO THE BREWERTON SPEEDWAY WINNERS CIRCLE ON BUDWEISER
BEER NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY...Billy Decker ended a season
of frustration at Brewerton Speedway last Friday by winning the 35-lap
DIRT Big Block Modified feature on Budweiser Beer Night. It was Decker's
first win of the 2005 season at the D-shaped DIRT Demon and his first
since August 20, 2004. Decker took the top spot away from Jeff Isabell
on lap-13 and would lead the rest of the distance over the talented
field.
Isabell jumped out to the early lead at
the start of the Budweiser Beer DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the
pole starting position. Isabell would only lead the first two circuits
before team-mate Sean Beardsley slipped by on lap three. After five
circuits Beardsley was being followed in the top five by Isabell, Sears,
Scott Prentice and Dan Vauter.
Beardsley and Isabell then swapped the
official lead for the next few laps. But, Decker ended the party on
lap-13 as he moved by both to take command of the field. At the halfway
mark Decker was being followed in the top five by Matt Sheppard,
Prentice, Tim Fuller and Sears. Alan Johnson, Bob McCreadie, Ryan
Phelps, Gary Tomkins and Vic Coffey raced in positions sixth through
tenth at the halfway stage.
In the closing laps Decker had the
field covered and earned the $2,000 winners share in the Gypsum
Wholesalers DIRT Big Block Modified. Fuller, Johnson, Sears and Prentice
completed the top five feature finishers. Phelps, Tomkins, McCreadie,
Pat Ward and Chuck Bower finished in positions sixth through tenth
respectively over the quality field.
Bob Bradt won his first 20-lap IMCA
Modified feature of the season last Friday in the rain delayed event
from August 19. Les Hubbard, Bill Anderson Jr., Dale Caswell and Tony
Finch chased the former track champion across the finish line. Bradt
came from the third starting position to lead the first circuit and he
would never give it back despite the constant challenges of Hubbard.
Kevan Cook won his first ever 20-lap
IMCA Modified main event in the nightcap affair. Les Hubbard, Carmen
Vona Jr., Dale Caswell and Bill Anderson Sr. finished in positions
second through fifth respectively. Cook took the top spot away from Bob
Bradt on lap six and then recorded the popular victory.
Tim Devendorf won his fourth 20-lap Mod
Lite feature race of the season last Friday night. Troy Van Allen, Kevin
Doll, Darren Forbes and Dan Williams completed the top five feature
finishers. Devendorf took the top spot away from Gary Schug on lap six
and would lead the rest of the distance. Devendorf owns a slim point
lead in the class going into the final point race this Friday night.
Joey Delacruz won his third 15-lap Four
Cylinder Stock feature race last Friday in the rain delayed event from
August 19. Todd Williamson, Russell Erwin, Chuck Powelczyk and Daryl
Carl finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Delacruz
led the entire 15-lap distance, but had to earn the victory with
Williamson and Erwin almost crossing three wide for the victory.
Williamson was later disqualified in post race inspection.
Doug Farnsworth won his first 15-lap
Four Cylinder Stock feature race of the season last Friday night. Joey
Delacruz, Russell Erwin, Rich Rainville and Chuck Powelczyk finished in
positions second through fifth respectively. Farnsworth took the lead
away from Delacruz on lap-13 and held on for his first victory of the
2005 season.
