TOMKINS
WINS FOURTH BREWERTON SPEEDWAY DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE WIN OF
THE SEASON ON AVON PRODUCTS NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Defending Brewerton Speedway
DIRT Big Block Modified Track Champion Gary Tomkins remained in title
contention for the 2005 season crown after his fourth victory of the
season last Friday on Avon Products Night. Tomkins took the top spot
away from Tom Sears Jr. on lap eight and would lead the rest of the
distance for the $2,000 payday in the Elaine James Motorsports entry.
Sean Beardsley raced out to the early
lead at the start of the Avon Products DIRT Big Block Modified feature
from the pole starting position. Beardsley only led the opening circuit
as teammate Tom Sears took command of the field on lap two. With five
laps complete Sears was being followed in the top five by Tomkins, Pat
Ward, Matt Sheppard and Beardsley.

and Jim Witko raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively at the
halfway stage in the talented field.
In the final laps four drivers remained
in contention for the victory. But, Tomkins never made a mistake and
earned the victory. Ward had to settle for second while Fuller made a
late race charge to finish third. Johnson maintained his point lead with
a fourth place finish. Veteran Bob McCreadie drove a solid race and
completed the top five feature finishers.
