JOHNSON
BENEFITS FROM BOWER'S MISFORTUNE TO WIN FERRIS INDUSTRIES DIRT BIG BLOCK
MODIFIED FEATURE
BREWERTON, NY...Alan Johnson benefited from
Chuck Bower's misfortune to win the 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified
feature race last Friday at Brewerton Speedway on Ferris Industries
Night. Bower appeared headed to victory before tangling with a lapped
car in the third turn of the final circuit. Johnson made it through the
mishap and went on to his fifth victory of the season at the D-shaped
DIRT Demon.
Jeff Isabell raced out to the early
lead at the start of the Ferris Industries DIRT Big Block Modified
feature from the pole starting position. Isabell led the first three
laps of the race. Chuck Bower took the top spot away from Isabell on lap
four. With 10-laps complete Bower was being followed in the top five by
Billy Decker, Jeff Isabell, Jim Witko and Johnson.
At the halfway mark Bower was being
followed in the top five by Johnson, Isabell, Witko and Bob McCreadie.
Steve Hulsizer, Tom Sears, Scott Prentice, Gary Tomkins and Matt
Sheppard raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively at the
halfway stage. In the closing laps it appeared that Bower was on his way
to victory until the mishap on the final circuit.
Bower held the lead going down the back
stretch of the final lap with Johnson closing in. Bower tangled with a
lapped car entering the third turn and spun. This gave the lead to
Johnson with the remainder of the field scattering. Bob McCreadie came
from the 19th starting position to finish a strong second. Jeff Isabell,
Jim Witko and Steve Hulsizer completed the top five feature finishers in
the wild finish.
Sean Lias won his second 20-lap IMCA
Modified feature race of the season last Friday night. Richard Townsend,
Johnny Hill, Dale Caswell and Bill Anderson Sr. completed the top five
feature finishers. Lias and Townsend had a great race for the feature
victory. Lias took the lead away from Townsend for good on lap-19.
Doug Williams won his fourth 20-lap Mod
Lite feature race of the season last Friday. Kevin Donhauser, Frank Doll
Jr., Don Fenner and Tim Devendorf finished in positions second through
fifth respectively. Williams took the lead away from Donhauser on lap-18
and never gave it back.
Glen Erwin won his second 15-lap Four
Cylinder Super Stock feature race of the season last Friday night. Todd
Williamson, Chuck Powelczyk, Russell Erwin and Lorrie Herbert completed
the top five feature finishers. The former Brewerton Speedway Track
Champion led the entire distance of the main event.
Jerry Herbert won both 25-lap Four
Cylinder Enduro feature races last Friday night. Mike Watkins, Josh
Herbert, Jerry Curcie Sr. and Jody Curcie followed Jerry Herbert across
the finish line in the opening Enduro. Matt Wetter, Kelly Smith, Chad
Guthrie and Josh Herbert followed Jerry Herbert in the nightcap.
