Jackson Powers to Career First In Stacker 2®
Pro Stock Series East Region Showdown
By Jim Fremouw, DIRT Pro Stock Series Reporter
Brewerton, NY — June 10, 2005 — For the second Friday evening in a row, the
Stacker 2® Pro Stock Super DIRT Series made it’s first ever stop at a new
speedway. “The D-Shaped Dirt Demon” Brewerton Speedway was stop #4 of DIRT
MotorSports™ only full-fender tour and when the checkered flag flew,
Akwesasne, N.Y.’s Louie Jackson had out-muscled the star-studded field to
capture the 25-lap caution-free East Region victory. For his first career
Stacker 2® Pro Stock SDS victory, Jackson pocketed the $600 top-prize and
assured himself a guaranteed starting spot in the Pro Stock Championship
event during Super DIRT Week XXXIV at the New York State Fairgrounds in
October.
“It feels great to get our first series victory," an excited Jackson
announced in victory lane. "We’ve been trying so hard for the last three
years to pick up a win and it just feels awesome. We finished second last
week at Thunder Alley and I knew we had a win coming. Obviously, we loved
visiting Brewerton tonight and you can be sure we will be back in the
future."
Although the evening’s air temperatures were warm from the drop of the
nights first green flag, temperatures were about to become scorching hot on
the ultra-fast 1/3 mile clay oval in the heat of battle offered up by the
Stacker 2® Pro Stock SDS. By virtue of their heat victories, Akwesasne,
Quebec Canada’s P.J. Peters and Phoenix, N.Y.’s John Pietrowicz led the
field of 17 drivers to the initial green flag with Peters winning the battle
for the lead to complete lap one. Pietrowicz, Jackson, Cornwall Island,
Ontario Canada’s Clayton Benedict and Cortland, NY’s Jeremy Clark filled the
top five positions in the early stages of the event.
By lap five, the battle for the lead began heating up as Peters, Pietrowicz
and Jackson moved out to a ten car length advantage over the rest of the
pack and the trio battled three wide at times to the amazement of the crowd.
Clark, Jamesville, NY’s Jack Terrell and Benedict also put on a driving
clinic battling for positions 4-6 with defending overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco
Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Pro Stock champion Joey Ladouceur from Alexandria,
Ontario Canada and Chili, N.Y.’s Pat Hobbs right in their tire tracks for
positions 7-8.
Jackson began to make his charge on lap nine as he out-dueled Pietrowicz for
second spot and set his sights on Peters for the point. But Pietrowicz
surprised Jackson by countering to the high side and retaking the spot.
Pietrowicz was not done there as he moved his car to the high side of the
speedway to challenge Peters for the lead but lapped traffic crossed up his
charge and forced him to take evasive action to prevent making contact. This
sudden turn of events allowed Peters to maintain the lead and even allowed
Jackson to drive back by to claim the second position relegating Pietrowicz
to settle back in third once again.
Finally on lap 12, Jackson showed Peters a fender down on the low side of
the speedway as he powered his car into a side-by-side battle for the lead.
As the pair exited turn four to complete lap 13, Jackson had a bumper out in
front to become the second and final leader of the event. Jackson then
proceeded to pull out to a five-car length advantage over Peters and
Pietrowicz in their battle for the second position.
Pietrowicz then charged by Peters for the second position on lap 19 and with
the laps winding down he began taking huge chunks out of the large advantage
that Jackson had opened up. Without the help of a caution, lapped traffic
became a factor in the closing laps slowing Jackson’s progress and
benefiting the charge of Pietrowicz. Despite the lapped traffic, Jackson
behind the wheel of his Brass Horse Grille-Sago Smoke Shop-LaFrance
Performance #18 Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Cannizzaro chassis was able to hold on
for the victory over the hard charging Pietrowicz, Peters, Benedict and
Terrell.
The Stacker 2® Pro Stock Super DIRT Series continues with the West Region
stop #5 scheduled for Sunday, June 12 at Humberstone Speedway in Port
Colborne, Ontario Canada.

BREWERTON BULLETS
*Rookie contender Billy Clark Jr. coming off a respectable 11th place finish
at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in stop #3 of the Stacker 2® Pro Stock Series
had a short night as he lost oil pressure in his Pip's Stump
Grinding-Cotton's Home Improvement-Port City Collision #99 Pontiac Grand
Prix/Predator chassis. The Clark crew, disappointed in the turn of events,
immediately loaded up and called it a night dashing Clark’s hopes of earning
his first series victory.
*Just one week prior at stop #2 of the Stacker 2® Pro Stock series at
Thunder Alley, Jeremy Clark blew his third engine of the season and thought
he was down and out for the count for the 2005 campaign. Instead, his engine
builder, the legendary Jim Gabriel Sr., finished the rebuild of the team’s
original engine keeping their season hopes alive. The powerplant proved to
be potent as Clark turned fast time (17.448 seconds/68.775 mph). behind the
wheel of his ING Financial Services-Blake Chassis-Feather's Edge Design #25
Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Blake chassis during the hot lap session. Clark
finished third in his heat and ran most of the feature event in the top-5
until contact with another competitor took him out of contention for the
victory and resulted in a dismal sixteenth place finish. Although very
disappointed by his poor showing in the Pro Stock portion of the evening,
his finish behind the wheel of the John Barron #92 Mod Lite thrilled Clark.
Clark’s efforts led to a thirteenth place finish in his first start behind
the wheel of a Mod Lite. “I want one of those! It took a little while to get
used to it, but once I did I had a ball,” Clark explained. “Then I had to
get back into this (Pro Stock) and I was missing my marks and couldn’t hit
the corners right. We were a little underpowered tonight but still had a
really good run going until Clayton and I came together. I was really happy,
even walking out of here with a top-five I would have gone out with a smile
on my face. I know that’s racing, but the late race contact really was kind
of uncalled for. But we’ll go to Fulton tomorrow and hopefully work out the
bugs we still have with the car and we’ll be back for the next stop.”
*John Pietrowicz behind the wheel of his Auto Recyclers Of Brewerton-Light's
Auto-Bombadil's Tavern #1 Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Art A Fab chassis was a
threat all evening to earn his first career Stacker 2® Pro Stock Series
victory, picking up the win in his heat and looking very fast through the
entire 25-lap feature. “We made contact with another competitor in our heat
event so I really wanted to try to keep it clean during the feature,”
Pietrowicz explained. “If the lapped car hadn’t been in our path out there I
would have definitely gone to the high side and made the pass for the lead,
but it threw our game plan off. I think we’re going to take a look at the
schedule and follow these races on more of a regular basis because I found
out tonight, I can run competitively with these other great teams.”
Pietrowicz did hold the distinction as the only Pro Stock driver in
competition to be a former feature winner in the Pro Stock ranks when the
division made a pair of special appearances at the speedway in 2001.
*P.J. Peters led the first 12 laps of the event and looked to be on his way
to his second career Stacker 2® Pro Stock series victory behind the wheel of
his Sunrise Bakery-Legends & Spirits Tavern & Pizzeria-First Nation
Petroleum #73 Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Cannizzaro chassis but it was not meant
to be as he dropped back for a third-place finish at the checkers. “I was
really hoping for a caution and I think I just got a little tired and the
handling seemed to go away a little bit on the car,” Peters said. “We got a
third out of it though so I’ll take it. I would have preferred the victory,
but I’m still happy with the finish.”
*The other half of the Peters’ tandem, Allen Peters, driver of the Sunrise
Bakery-Legends & Spirits Tavern & Pizzeria-Jacob's Excavation #73a Chevrolet
Monte Carlo/Cannizzaro chassis, was also fast all night long but contact
with another driver in his heat sent him to the pits and forced him to fall
in 15th on the starting grid. He would race in for a seventh at the
checkers. Allen Peters continues to be the only driver on the Stacker 2® Pro
Stock Series committing to race at every East/West/Combined regional series
event, a feat that hasn’t been done since 2003 when John Lazore followed the
entire 16 event series.
*Driver of the H&R Block-Labatt Beer-Terrell's Chips-Bachman Snacks #98t
Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Slowiak chassis, Jack Terrell continues his impressive
showing this season on the Stacker 2® Pro Stock Series finishing fifth.
Despite the fact he broke a cam at stop #3 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway,
Terrell and his team worked through the week to get the engine problem fixed
and prepared the car for Brewerton. “We just finished dropping the engine in
the car about an hour before we got to the track and we’ve been looking
forward to this race at Brewerton for sometime now because it's close to
home,” Terrell said. “This feels great! The fifth place finish to us is like
a win and going as well as I did with all of these top runners, this feels
really good. We’re working on following as much of this series as we can. It
just depends on timing and our schedules.”
*With RACEceiver now recognized as the Official Driver Communicator of DIRT
MotorSports™ in 2005, fans, as well as the competing drivers, were able to
