FULLER
WINS FIRST OF THE SEASON ON CHINA TOWNE FURNITURE NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY...Tim Fuller won his first
35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature of the season last Friday on
China Towne Furniture Night. Fuller took the top spot away from a strong
running Ryan Phelps on lap-12. In the final circuits Fuller was able to
hold off two-time feature winner Alan Johnson for the win. The victory
for the B&F General Machine team was worth $2,000.
Tony Buffa raced out to the early lead
at the start of the China Towne DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the
pole starting position. Buffa would only lead the opening circuit before
young Ryan Phelps took command of the talented field. With ten laps
complete Phelps continued to lead and was being chased in the top five
by Jeff Isabell, Fuller, Steve Hulsizer and Jim Witko.
With 11 laps complete Phelps had built
up a comfortable lead, but that was lost when Sean Beardsley spun in the
second turn. It was on the lap-12 restart when Fuller took the top spot
away from Phelps. At the halfway point Fuller, Hulsizer, Billy Decker,
Alan Johnson and Pat Ward raced in the top five. Phelps, Gary Tomkins,
Matt Sheppard, Vic Coffey and Isabell raced in positions sixth through
tenth respectively at the halfway stage.
Just when it appeared that Fuller would
coast to the feature race victory, the caution lights came back on
lap-27 after Isabell stopped in turn two. The field regrouped for a
shoot-out to the finish. Alan Johnson started fourth on the restart and
was able to put on quite a show in the final circuits. Johnson moved
into the second position on lap-32 and started to chase down Fuller.
On this occasion Johnson had to settle
for a second place feature finish after starting from the 20th position.
Hulsizer enjoyed his best outing of the season with a strong third place
finish. Decker and Ward completed the top five feature finishers.
Tomkins, Phelps, Coffey, Mitch Gibbs and Chuck Bower rounded out the top
ten feature finishers in the all-star field.
Defending IMCA Modified Track Champion
Johnny Hill won his first 20-lap feature of the season Friday night.
Bill Anderson Sr, winner of the first two main events of the season had
to settle for second on this occasion. Mike Jeffries, Mike Chilson and
Carmen Vona Jr. completed the top five feature finishers. Hill only
officially led the final circuit, but that is the one that matters most.
Frank Doll Jr. recorded the 20-lap
feature race victory in the caution marred Mod Lite main event. Mark
Cooper, Tim Devendorf, Darren Forbes and Doug Williams chased Doll
across the finish line. Doll took the top spot from John Behron on lap
five and never gave it back to enjoy his first feature win at the
D-shaped DIRT Demon in several season.
Young Joey Delacruz won his first ever
Brewerton Speedway Four Cylinder Super Stock feature race last Friday
night. Delacruz won out in the paint swapping affair over Russell Erwin,
Chuck Powelczyk, Jeff Herbert and Daryl Carl. It was a three car battle
for the 15-lap feature win. Delacruz hung on for the victory with Erwin
and Powelczyk following.
Chad Dupra was also a first time
feature winner Friday at Brewerton Speedway. Dupra's victory came in the
25-lap Four Cylinder Enduro. Jerry Herbert, Kelly Smith, Jerry Curcie
Sr. and Kevin Hendrix finished in positions second through fifth
respectively. A total of 20-cars started the main event.
Professional motorsports competition

Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Mod Lites and Four Cylinder Super
