DECKER WINS SECOND STRAIGHT DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE ON BURDICK DODGE NIGHT

 

BREWERTON, NY...Billy Decker beat the rain and the rest of the competition Friday at Brewerton Speedway to earn his second straight 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature win on Burdick Dodge Night. Decker slipped by Matt Sheppard in heavy lapped traffic on lap-25 to earn the victory. The win for the former Track Champion at the D-shaped DIRT Demon was worth $2,000.
 

     Scott Prentice raced out to the early lead at the start of the Burdick Dodge DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. After five circuits Prentice continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Ryan Phelps, Sheppard, Chuck Bower and Gary Tomkins. Prentice would lead the opening 11 circuits of the main event.
 

     Sheppard took the top spot awy from Prentice on lap-12 after a pair of breath-taking moves. At the halfway point Sheppard was being chased in the top five by Decker, Tim Fuller, Prentice and Phelps. Sheppard was hoping to run away and hide from the rest of the field, but Decker was up to the challenge. The lead duo raced in and out of lapped traffic for several laps.
 

    The lead changed hands on lap-26 after Sheppard jumped the cushion in the first turn. Decker took advantage of the bobble to take command of the field. Sheppard came charging right back, while Fuller closed in on the lead duo to make it a three car battle for the victory. Decker would win out for his third win of the season at the D-shaped DIRT Demon in the Gypsum Wholesalers mount.
 

     Fuller passed Sheppard in the late going to finish second. Tim McCreadie and Tomkins finished fourth and fifth respectively. Pat Ward, Phelps, Vic Coffey, Bower and Alan Johnson rounded out the top ten finishers in the talented field.
 

     Mike Miller was the 25-lap ARDC feature race winner Friday night. Steve Buckwalter and Ray Bull chased Miller across the finish line in the fast-paced event.
 

     The remaining IMCA Modified, Dwarf Car / Mod Lite and Four Cylinder Super Stock features were all rained out. The IMCA Modified and Four Cylinder Stock features will be added this Friday, August 27. The Dwarf Car / Mod Lite main event will be made up on September 3.
 

     Action will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, double features for the IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars /  Mod Lites, double features for the Four Cylinder Super Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro Racers all in action.
