TOMKINS WINS THIRD OF THE SEASON AT BREWERTON ON COCA-COLA NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY...Gary Tomkins won his third 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature race of the season at Brewerton Speedway Friday on Coca-Cola Night. Tomkins took the top spot away from Vic Coffey on lap-21 and never gave it back. The victory for the Elaine James DIRT Big Block Modified team was worth $2,000.

Bob McCreadie raced out to the early lead at the start of the Coca-Cola DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the pole starting position. McCreadie was fast in the debut of his self-built car and after five circuits he was being chased in the top five by Coffey, Pat Ward, Scott Prentice and Chuck Hebing. McCreadie would lead the first 12-laps of the main event before he headed to the pits.

Coffey inherited the lead after McCreadie dropped out. At the halfway point Coffey was being chased in the top five by Tomkins, Tim Fuller, Ward and Alan Johnson. Billy Decker, Tom Sears, Tim McCreadie, Ryan Phelps and John Barker raced in positions sixth through tenth at the halfway stage.

It was on lap-21 when Tomkins was able to take the top spot away from Coffey in lapped traffic. The traffic would play a role during the remainder of the race, but Tomkins never got trapped and recorded the victory. Alan Johnson made a late race charge , but ran out of laps and finished second. Coffey, Ward and Fuller completed the top five feature finishers in the talented field.

Sean Lias won his fifth IMCA Modified feature race of the season Friday on Coca-Cola Night. Johnny Hill, Pat Pontello, Bill Anderson Jr. and Kevan Cook followed Lias across the finish line. Lias took the top spot away from Bob Ridgeway on the fifth circuit and he would never give it away.

John Behron won his second Dwarf Car / Mod Lite feature Friday in dramatic fashion. On the final lap race leader Matt Magner and Behron came together. Behron recovered first and claimed the victory with Magner second. Mark Cooper, Doug Williams and Dan Williams completed the top five feature finishers.
