WARD PASSES FULLER IN LATE GOING FOR DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE
WIN ON BUDWEISER BEER NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY...Pat Ward passed Tim
Fuller in the late going of the 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified
feature Friday to record his second win of the season at the
D-shaped DIRT Demon. Ward overtook Fuller on lap-34 of the main
event to earn the well deserved win on Budweiser Beer Night. The
victory for the Gypsum Express DIRT Big Block Modified team was
worth $2,000.
John Barker jumped out to the early
lead at the start of the Budweiser Beer DIRT Big Block Modified
feature from the pole starting position. After five circuits Barker
continued to lead and was being chased by Ryan Phelps, Tim Fuller,
Sean Beardsley and Tim Sears. Barker would lead the first six laps
of the main event. Fuller took the top spot away from Barker on
lap-seven.
Fuller came charging from the
eighth starting position in search of another victory at the
D-shaped DIRT Demon. At the halfway mark Fuller was being followed
in the top five by Ward, Vic Coffey, Gary Tomkins and Billy Decker.
Alan Johnson, Chuck Bower, Matt Sheppard, Tim McCreadie and Scott
Prentice raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively.
Just when it appeared that Fuller
was cruising to the feature win Ward started to move-up. Ward passed
Coffey for the second position on lap-30. He then closed in on
Fuller and went by for the lead with just one lap remaining. Fuller
attempted to regain the lead, but Ward held on for the feature win.
Fuller had to settle for second with Coffey, Tomkins and Johnson
completed the top five feature finishers.
Johnny Hill earned the win in the
25-lap Lias Tire IMCA Modified Empire State Series race. It was the
fourth win of the season for the current point leader in the
disivision. Bill Anderson Sr., Pat Pontello, Andy Claireborne and
Mike Smith completed the top five feature finishers. Hill made the
pass for the lead on lap-11 by Anderson and he would hold off the
defending track champion to the finish.
Tim Devendorf won his second
straight and third overall 20-lap Dwarf Car / Mod Lite feature race
of the season Friday night. Don Fenner, Mike Isabell, Frank Doll Jr.
and Dan Williams finished in positions second through fifth
respectively. Devendorf made the winning move of the race by Isabell
with just five circuits remaining. Doll was the highest finishing
traditional Dwarf Car.
Chuck Powelczyk won his third
15-lap Four Cylinder Super Stock feature of the season Friday night.
Daryl Carl, Joey Delacruz, Lorrie Herbert and Walt VanEpps followed
Powelczyk across the finish line. Powelczyk took the lead away from
Jeff Herbert on lap-11 and never gave it back.
It is Family Autograph Night this
Friday at Brewerton Speedway. The DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA
Modifieds, Dwarf Cars / Mod Lites, Four Cylinder Super Stocks and
the Four Cylinder Enduro racers will all be in competition. Race
