in the 35-lap Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts
main event for his second win of 2004. |
BREWERTON, NY...Matt Sheppard earned his second
35-lap Brewerton Speedway DIRT Big Block Modified
feature win of the season Friday on Pick-N-Pull Auto
Parts Night. Sheppard took the top spot away from
Billy Decker on lap-33 and never gave it back. The
victory for the Adam Ross Cut Stone DIRT Big Block
Modified team was worth $2,000.
Bob McCreadie raced out to the early lead at
the start of the Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts DIRT Big
Block Modified feature from the pole starting
position. McCreadie would only lead the first
circuit and would slow on the track on lap two.
Chuck Hebing was the official race leader of the
second circuit. Billy Decker took the top spot away
from Hebing on lap three.
With 10 laps complete Decker continued to lead
and was being chased in the top five by Sheppard,
Tim Fuller, Vic Coffey and Hebing. With the race
half-over Decker was still leading the talented
field with Shepard, Fuller, Coffey and Chuck Bower
following. Hebing, Gary Tomkins, Pat Ward, Alan
Johnson and Scott Prentice raced in positions sixth
through tenth at the halfway stage.
In the final stages of the event Sheppard
appeared to have the quickest car. The youngster was
able to close in on Decker and was looking for a way
past. Finally on lap-33 Decker went low and that
allowed Sheppard to storm by on the top side of the
track. Decker attempted to come back, but Sheppard
recorded his second feature win of the season at the
D-shaped DIRT Demon.
Decker had to settle for a second place finish.
Coffey passed Fuller on the final lap to finish
third. Tomkins, Johnson, Ward, Prentice, Jeremie
Corcoran and Ryan Phelps finished in positions fifth
through tenth respectively.
Sean Lias won his sixth 20-lap IMCA Modified
feature race of the season Friday night. Lias is
currently the IMCA Modified national point leader.
Current Brewerton Speedway point leader Johnny Hill
finished second with Pat Pontello, Les Hubbard and
Bill Anderson Sr. completing the top five feature
finishers. Lias took the lead from Bill Anderson Jr.
on lap three and never lost it.
Tim Devendorf claimed his second feature win of
the season in the 20-lap Dwarf Car / Mod Lite
event. Frank Doll Jr. was the highest finishing
traditional Dwarf Car with a strong second place
finish. Mike Isabell, Don Fenner and Doug Williams
completed the top five feature finishers in the
caution delayed event.
Daryl Carl earned his second win of the season
in the Four Cylinder Super Stock main event. Chuck
Powelczyk, Lorrie Herbert, Joey Delacruz and Russell
Erwin completed the top five feature finishers. Carl
passed Powelczyk for the eventual win on lap seven.
Chad Guthrie was the winner of the 25-lap Four
Cylinder Enduro main event Friday night. Mitch
Pietrowicz, Sam Curcie, Jerry Herbert and Doe Lybolt
finished in positions second through fifth
respectively. Guthrie took the lead on lap-18 and
held on in the wild affair.
Race competition will continue this Friday at
Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds,
IMCA Modified Empire State Series Race, Dwarf Cars /
Mod Lites and Four Cylinder Super Stocks all in
