FULLER WINS OPENING NIGHT DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE BATTLE ROYAL

BREWERTON, NY…Tim Fuller claimed a thrilling 35-lap DIRT
Big Block Modified feature win at Brewerton Speedway
last Friday night during the 2004 season opener. Fuller
held off a determined Vic Coffey to win his second
straight season opener at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. The
victory for the B&F General Machine team was worth
$2,000.
Fuller jumped out to the early lead at the start of
the DIRT Big Block Modified main event from the pole
starting position. From the start Brewerton Speedway
newcomer Gary Tomkins pressured Fuller. The duo ran side
by side from the start with Fuller leading the first
three circuits. Tomkins was the official race leader on
lap four. Fuller regained the lead the following
circuit.
With ten laps complete Fuller and Tomkins were
being followed in the top five by Coffey, Alan Johnson
and Billy Decker. At the halfway point Coffey slipped by
Tomkins for the runner-up spot. Matt Sheppard, Chuck
Bower, Ryan Phelps, Tom Sear
Fans witnessed a typical Brewerton Speedway battle during the final half of the main event. Fuller raced the bottom of the track, while Coffey raced the top part. The lead never officially changed hands, but Coffey inched ahead on several occasions with Fuller always able to move back ahead.

Fuller held on for the victory, while Coffey showed
that he would be a threat every week at Brewerton
Speedway with his second place finish. The debut of Tomkins to the weekly wars at Brewerton was also
successful with a third place finish. Alan Johnson and
Matt Sheppard completed the top five feature finishers
in the highly competitive field.
Sean Lias claimed the 20-lap opening night IMCA
Modified feature. George Valenti, Larry Robbins, Bob
Ridgeway and Dale Caswell completed the top five feature
finishers. Lias inherited the lead on lap 18 when leader
Bob Bradt tangled with a lapped car.
Darren Forbes earned the victory in the 20-lap
Dwarf Car / Mod Lite main event. Mike Isabell, Dan
Williams, Tim Devendorf and Bob Garafolo followed Forbes
across the finish line. Forbes led the entire feature
distance in his Mod Lite racer from the third starting
position. Doug Williams was the highest finishing Dwarf
Car in the main event.
Jeff Herbert was the opening night feature winner
in the 15-lap Four Cylinder Stock main event. Herbert
led the entire distance. Chuck Powelczyk, Ken Klinkowsky,
Dusty Wassner and Aaron Backus completed the top five
feature finishers.
Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton
Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA
Modifieds, Dwarf Cars / Mod Lites, Four Cylinder Super
Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in
action. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. For more
