BOWER
RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE
ON JIM HOUSE MEMORIAL NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY...Defending DIRT
Modified Track Champion Chuck Bower returned to victory lane at
Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. Bower's third win of the season
came on Jim House Memorial Night at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. Bower
took the lead away from Tim McCreadie on lap 16 and held off the late
race challenge of Tim Fuller for the well earned 35 lap win . The
victory was worth $1,700 for the Currier Plastics DIRT Modified team.
Ryan Bartlett
raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Modified feature
from the pole starting position. Bartlett led the opening three laps.
Chuck Hebing took the top spot away from Bartlett on lap four. Hebing
led the 25 car starting field until lap seven. It was on lap eight
when Jimmy Phelps took the lead away from Hebing. With 10 circuits
complete Phelps was being followed in the top five by Hebing, Fuller,
Tim McCreadie and Scott Prentice.
Tim McCreadie
became the fourth different leader of the race on lap 13. McCreadie
would only lead the field for three circuits. Bower took over the top
spot on lap 16. At the halfway stage of the race Bower was being
followed in the top five by Tim McCreadie, Fuller, Prentice and
Phelps. Billy Decker, Steve Hulsizer, Hebing, Alan Johnson and Pat
Ward raced in positions sixth through tenth at the halfway stage.
In the late going
Fuller was clearly the fastest car on the speedway. Fuller was flying
around the top side of the track, but he ran out of time. Bower
recorded the feature win with Fuller second. Decker, Tim McCreadie and
Prentice completed the top five feature finishers. Ward, Hulsizer,
Hebing, Phelps and Chris Kokosa crossed the finish line in positions
sixth through tenth respectively.
Tony Buffa was
the winner of the 20 lap Jim House Memorial IMCA Modified feature.
Buffa's fourth win of the season in the class was worth $500. Buffa
won out over Sean Lias, Bob Bradt, John Hickman and Brian House.
Johnny Hill led the first 13 laps of the main event. Buffa took over
on lap 14 and led the rest of the distance in the 20 lap special.
Sean Lias was the
winner of the regular 20 lap IMCA Modified feature. It was the second
win of the season for Lias. Johnny Hill, Brian House, Bob Bradt and
Don Alvord completed the top five feature finishers. Lias took the
lead away from Ron O'Neil on lap two and led the rest of the distance.
Lias started from the fifth starting position.
Darren Forbes won
his first ever Dwarf Car feature last Friday night. Forbes was
followed across the finish line by Bob Magner, Barry Virts, Joe
Garafolo and Steve Miller. Dan Boyce, Tony Buffa and Bob Magner all
led the race at one time. Forbes took the lead away from Magner on lap
17 and led the rest of the 20 lap distance.
Chris Smith won
the Four Cylinder Stock feature in a three car photo finish over Lloyd
Hinton and Todd Williamson. It was the fourth win of the season for
Smith. With one lap to go Smith was running third, but he took the
lead when it counted. Steve Coit and Bob Whipple completed the top
five feature finishers.
BREWERTON NOTES---The first ever Jim House
Memorial Night at Brewerton Speedway was very successful. Major
sponsors of the event included Securities & Investment Advisors,

and Brewerton Speedway...The Jim House Memorial Night benefited the
Food Bank of CNY...Another large crowd witnessed a great night of
family entertainment at the D-shaped DIRT Demon...Racing will continue
this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Modifieds, IMCA
Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Four Cylinder Stocks, Four Cylinder Enduro
Racers and One On One Spectator Races making up the program. Action
