TOP BREWERTON FOUR CYLINDER STOCK DRIVERS HONORED AT AWARDS PRESENTATION

BREWERTON, NY…The top drivers at Brewerton Speedway in the Four Cylinder Super Stock class were honored for their accomplishments during the 2000 race season at the Awards Presentation last Friday night at Sam’s Lakeside Restaurant. The drivers that finished in the top ten in the 2000 season long point standings were honored, as well as some special awards in the popular Four Cylinder Super Stock class.

     Roger West claimed the 2000 Brewerton Speedway Four Cylinder Stock Track title. West finished with 666 points. West claimed two wins on the season, but consistent finishes led the way to the crown. During the 2000 season West finished in the top five on ten occasions, while earning 11 finishes in the top ten. Jim LaLone finished a close second in the standings with 643 points. LaLone claimed one feature win, eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes during the 2000 season.

     Completing the top ten in the 2000 Brewerton Speedway Four Cylinder Stock standings were Harvey Calkins Jr., Darik Van Epps, Joe Briere, Todd Williamson, John West, Chris Bargabos, Tim Koch and Kevan Cook. All the drivers that finished in the top ten rankings received their due point money and a trophy at the Awards Presentation.

     Roy French was named as the 2000 Brewerton Speedway Rookie of the Year. French managed one feature win in his rookie season, which is quite an accomplishment in the very competitive class. Joe Briere earned the Most Improved Driver Award. Briere improved on his 1999 point finish of 14th,  all the way up to fifth in 2000. The Best Appearing Car Award was presented to Chris Bargabos.

     Race competition at Brewerton Speedway for the 2001 race season will start this Friday, April 13, with the F.X. Caprara Car Companies Demon Dog Fight on DIRT. The special for the DIRT Modifieds will pay $5,000 to win. Also in race competition will be the IMCA Modifieds, Four Cylinder Super Stocks and Dwarf Cars. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., Modified Time Trials at 7 p.m. and race action set for 7:30 p.m. sharp.
