BOB McCREADIE PASSES FULLER ON FINAL TURN OF LAST LAP SUPER DIRT WEEK WIN
BREWERTON, NY…Bob McCreadie proved that he is still the master of Brewerton Speedway. McCreadie passed Tim Fuller in the fourth turn of the final circuit to win the Super DIRT Week special at Brewerton on Thursday night. Bob earned $4,000 for the thrilling 106-lap win in the Pierre Dagenais owned TEO Pro Car DIRT 358 Modified. The win came in front of a capacity crowd during the season finale at the D-shaped DIRT Demon.
Billy Decker raced out to the early lead at the start of the 358 Modified Super DIRT Series race from the outside pole starting position. Decker led the field for the first 13 circuits. Tim Fuller took command of the top spot on lap 14. After 25 laps Fuller continued to lead the 33 car-starting field with Decker, Bob McCreadie, Chuck Bower and Danny Johnson following in the top five.
At the halfway mark Fuller was still leading the way with Bob McCreadie, Decker, Bower and Alan Johnson following in the top five. Racing in positions sixth through tenth at the halfway stage were Danny Johnson, Pat Ward, Vic Coffey, Steve Paine and Frankie Caprara. Fans were treated to constant two and three wide competition, with the best yet to come.
On lap 60 Bob McCreadie was able to work around the outside of Fuller to become the new race leader. At this point of the race it appeared to be a two-car battle for the win and that was certainly how it would turn out. Fuller regained the lead on lap 90. The remainder of the race was a classic duel, with the outcome in doubt until the end. McCreadie regained the lead on lap 92.
Lapped traffic certainly added to the drama in the closing circuits. Fuller took the lead back from McCreadie on lap 97. The race slowed on lap 97 when Tim Laduc stopped on the back straight. That set up a green, white and checkered situation. Fuller appeared to have the race under control, but McCreadie was able to make his high move work coming out of the fourth turn of the final lap to record the one-car length victory.
Fuller had to settle for second in the classic Brewerton Speedway battle. Alan Johnson made a late race charge to finish third with Bower and Paine completing the top five feature finishers. Coffey, Caprara, Danny Johnson, Keith Hoffman and Todd Burley crossed the finish line in positions sixth through tenth respectively.
Tod Simons continued his late season charge by winning the 20-lap Dwarf Car feature race last Thursday night. Shawn Hort, Darren Forbes, Joe Garafolo and Bob Garafolo followed Simons.
Brian Evenden returned to the winners’ circle at the conclusion of the 15-lap Four Cylinder Stock main event. Sean Mills, Bob Whipple, Dave Myrto and John West chased Evenden across the finish line.
