Only Five Point Races Left To Settle Brewerton Speedway Championships; CJs Car America On Hand August 7 With Big Screen TV Giveaway

By Dave Medler - BREWERTON, NY - August 5, 2015 – After a week off, the Brewerton Speedway will swing back into action this Friday, August 7th when CJ’s Car America and K-ROCK 100.9  will present a night of exciting racing where adult grandstand admission is only $12 and everyone 18 yrs. old and younger are FREE.

When you enter the gate with your admission ticket stop by the CJ’s Car America display for you chance to win a 50 inch big screen TV. Registration is FREE.

On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, Pro Race Cars Mod Lites and Hilton’s Automotive Four-Cylinders.

Here is a recap of the last time the speedway was in action on July 24. With only five point events left here is the top-five division point standings coming into August 7th.

(Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds) -  Jimmy Phelps who on a weekly basis due to handicapping most races would come from deep in the field and would rack up top finishes that would add up to the points lead. A feature victory eluded him until last Friday when he grabbed his first feature win of the season. Phelps would make the winning pass on Lap-21, taking the lead from a tough Rob Bellinger and then went on to the 35-Lap win. TOP-FIVE POINT STANDINGS - Jimmy Phelps 488. Matt Sheppard 474. Billy Decker 438. Pat Ward 434. Ryan Phelps 390.

(SUNY Canton Sportsman) - Ron Davis III won his third feature of the year the hard way. Davis took the lead on Lap-11 of the 25-Lap feature. Once in the lead Davis not only had to fight off a talented field but also had to fight a tough handling car that was running on a flat front tire. TOP-FIVE POINT STANDINGS - Ron Davis III 473. (Pro Race Cars Mod Lites) - Jeff Isabell Jr. brought out an older car last Friday but the result was the same with a trip to victory lane. Isabell took the lead on Lap-9 and then outdistanced Mike Mullen to the checkers. (TOP-FIVE POINT STANDINGS) - Joe Isabell 684. Jim Bogett 664. Mike Mullen 638. Jeff Sykes 626. Lowell Zehr 590.

(Hilton’s Automotive Four-Cylinders) - Coming into the 2015 season one of the goals for Chuck Powelczyk was to get to 80 wins in the division.
