Chuck Hebing And Jack Meeks Both Take Last Lap Brewerton Speedway Feature Wins

By Dave Medler – BREWERTON, NY – July 1, 2015 – Rain, a full moon and soggy conditions were stacked against the Brewerton Speedway for night one of the Lucas Empire Super Sprints Speedweek/A-Verdi Storage Containers Brewerton & Fulton 360 Sprint Car Series and the FX Caprara Car Companies Upstate Sportsman Series. The track crew, seeing the future forecast, left the track sealed from the prior Friday night racing and that lead to very racy conditions for both divisions and fans in attendance who saw last lap passes in both features for the victories.

Thirty-five Sprint Cars signed into the pits that took three heats, a dash and a B-Main to set the 24-car starting field for the 25-Lap A-Main.  In the A-main, one driver's disappointment was another man’s triumph. With two and three wide racing throughout the field and positions changing all the time it was Danny Varin who was setting the pace out front from the drop of the green. On the last lap Chuck Hebing who started 14th looked like he was shot out of a cannon on the final lap running the top of the speedway. As Varin and Hebing exited turn-four coming for the checkers, Hebing used the momentum of the topside to nip Varin at the line by 00.308. Jason Barney finished third only 00.533 behind. Pennsylvania’s Mark Smith and Paul Kinney finished fourth and fifth. Dylan Swiernik, Larry Wight, Bryan Howland, Steve Poirier and Matt Tanner completed the top-ten.

Twenty-Seven Sportsman took the green for the 30-Lap FX Caprara Car Companies Upstate Sportsman Series feature. Just like the Sprints, great racing was found throughout the field with Jack Meeks setting the pace out front. The race really got interesting with a yellow with just 4-Laps to go. When the race went back to green, Meeks started getting pressure from Rocco Leone and Billy Clark Jr.. Leone would inch to the lead with 2-Laps to go with Meeks taking the lead right back on the white flag lap. Going into turn one on the final lap Meeks and Leone would race side by side through turn two and down the back straight with Clark right there waiting for any mistake by the top-two. Entering turns three and four Leone was digging on the bottom with Meeks on top as the pair exited turn four for the drag race to the checkers. Meeks' momentum on the top found him just enough speed to nip Leone by 00.216 at the finish. Billy Clark Jr., Dave Marcuccilli, Kevin Ridley finished third through fifth.

Friday, July 3rd Omni Services presents a night of fast, family, affordable fun. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, Pro Race Cars Mod Lites, Hilton’s Automotive Four-Cylinders plus night one of the NY6A 600 Micro-Sprint Tour.
