Exciting Season Opener Less Than A Month Away

Season Lid-Lifter Set To Go On May 1; SUNY Canton Sportsman Join Weekly Racing

BREWERTON, NY – April 7, 2015 (By Dave Medler) – The long off-season since the final checkered flag last October is about to become a distant memory at the Brewerton Speedway with the 2015 season opener less than a month away.

On Tuesday, April 28th at 6:30pm there will be a Test and Tune open for any car that runs on dirt. Just three days later the highly anticipated season opener will hit the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon” on Friday, May 1st presented by Ferris Mowers. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds/Pro Race Cars Mod Lites/Hilton’s Automotive Four-Cylinders. For the first time ever, by popular demand from competitors and fans, the SUNY Canton Sportsman will join the weekly racing.

Known for one of the toughest weekly Big Block Modified fields anywhere, 2015 will be no different. Matt Sheppard will be back to defend his 2014 Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified Championship. It will be no easy task when you look at second through tenth in the point standings. Billy Decker, Jimmy Phelps, Larry Wight, Ryan Phelps, Chris Hile, Pat Ward, Rob Bellinger, Matt Billings and Chad Phelps and others will be shooting for Sheppard’s title.

The Pro Race Cars Mod Lites always put on great racing. This season the racing should be even better with the class now following TUSA rules. All Mod Lite competitors can go to http://www.t-usa.org/rules.html for the rules you need for the 2015 season.

In the Hilton’s Automotive Four-Cylinders the question will be can anyone stop Chuck Powelczyk? The defending track champion stands at 71 overall wins in the division.

Over the years phone calls and comments have been made; when would the SUNY Canton Sportsman be added to the weekly program? After special races in the past had been run and the response from racers and fans was so strong the decision was made to have them race weekly. With the strength of the class in Central/Upstate NY and being a new division no driver has the upper hand in the quest to be named the first Track Champion.

2015 is shaping up to be a great season at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon”. Beyond the great weekly racing, circle your calendars for these special dates.
