Ryan Phelps earns inaugural NAPA Know How Performer of the Week award at Brewerton Speedway

Ryan Phelps started last Friday night’s Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature from the 13th starting position and after 35 hard fought laps he had made his way to an impressive fifth place finish. For his efforts, Phelps’ will receive the first Brewerton Speedway ‘Napa Know How Performer of the Week Award’ from NAPA Auto Parts.

Competing in arguably the best Big Block Modified field in the Northeast, Phelps’ fifth place finish was well-earned, but an early-race excursion made his performance even more award-worthy.

“When Ryan Bartlett broke I was right behind him and got caught up as he tried to clear the track”, said Phelps, “I dropped several spots back to about 20th.”

The $100 “NAPA Know How Performer of The Week” is awarded weekly at both Brewerton and Fulton Speedways to one driver that outperforms all others that week across all classes.

The new NAPA Outlaw Speedway Discount Card program is expected to begin right after Easter. The cards are in final production and will be handed to participating drivers at the track upon completion. Only drivers that have submitted a Driver Information Sheet with track management are eligible for the card that will provide discounted pricing on most racing related purchases throughout the 2011 race season.

In addition to the discount on purchases, 3% of every dollar spent using the NAPA Racer Discount Card will be returned to Brewerton and Fulton competitors as a NAPA point fund award at the end of the 2011 campaign.

After a blockbuster season-opener last Friday, Brewerton Speedway returns to action this Friday with “Junior Fan Club Night” featuring a full card featuring Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds, NAPA Late Models, Nationwide Insurance IMCA Modifieds, Metalico Aluminum Recovery Four Cylinder Superstocks and the Beaver River Mod Lites. Fulton Speedway will roar to life May 7th.
